Castle Rock Casa del Sol

This passive and active solar home near Castle Rock, Colorado is inspired by the Pueblo-style homes of New Mexico.  It incorporates passive solar design including South facing windows and shading, and the stairwell is used for chimney effect ventilation.  The walls are double 2x4 stud walls filled with cellulose insulation.  The home also utilizes daylighting, radiant heat, and solar hot water.
